This view is at the end of the main street in Ohura looking back up into the distance on a peaceful, clear sunny day.
The green shop is gradually becoming creakingly misshapen, overgrown and showing all the signs of fatigue and neglect. I couldn't make out the shadowy outlines of the weathered letters above the shop which had faded into the wood, adding to the mystery of its original function.
This is the fourth in a series of paintings on the forgotten rural town of Ohura off the Forgotten World Highway between Taumarunui and Stratford in the middle of the North Island.
